Kellogg’s FiberPlus® Plus Up Your Day $100 gift card giveaway

That a lot of fiber

Disclosure: I received free samples of FiberPlus products and a $100 American Express gift card to write this post.

I don’t do many giveaways here on JenFul, but I make exceptions for products I actually use and think my readers might like. FiberPlus contacted me recently to see if I was interested in their Plus Up Your Day promotion, so I said yes because I sometimes buy their FiberPlus bars when I’m traveling by plane. I like to cram cereal bars in my suitcase because they’re small, they don’t go bad, and they’re unlikely to trigger a security pat down. Unlike an apple or a pear I don’t have to find a trash can to throw the core out. I can just cram the leftover wrapper in my pocket. Fiber is supposed to fill you up which is good on a long plane trip with only peanuts and Biscoff cookies to sustain you courtesy of Delta airlines. And because they are high in fiber I have incentive not to eat ALL five bars before takeoff unless I want to be really unpopular with my seatmate. (Toot!) Engage in portion control or experience social embarrassment!

Anyway, they sent me samples of all four flavors of their bars (Caramel Coconut Fudge, Chocolate Chip, Dark Chocolate Almond, and Chocolatey Peanut Butter) and two of their cereals (Caramel Pecan Crunch and Berry Yogurt Crunch). I slowly ate my way through all the cereal bars, typically using them as a dessert option because they contain chocolate. Mmmmm, chocolate. I think the Dark Chocolate Almond was my favorite. The cereal was good too, particularly when I used milk that had NOT gone bad on them. (So totally not a joke!) I did feel a bit guilty eating all of this stuff because I’ve been promising certain people I would try a gluten-free diet soon, but damn I do love my gluten. Gluten and chocolate. Chocolate and gluten. And fiber!

The theme of this giveaway is to Plus Up your day, so I was given a $100 gift card to do that. No, I did not buy $100 worth of cereal. I actually put the money toward Christmas presents because the only thing better than plus-ing up your own day is plus-ing up the days of your friends and family. I can’t post about everything I got because that would spoil it for family and friends who read this blog. (I have family and friends reading this blog, right? Right?) I will say I spent half of the gift card buying other gift cards, which seems rather circular now that I think about it. Here’s an image of two of the wrapped presents.

Pretty! I bought the wrapping paper with the gift card as well at Michael’s. (Have you ever been to Michael’s in December? It’s like Christmas barfed over half the store.)

Now you too get a chance to plus up your day anyway you chose with a $100 American Express gift card. To enter the contest leave an entry on this post telling me how you’d plus up your day if you win. Contest starts now (Monday, December 19th, 2011) and ends at 11:59pm ET on Saturday, December 24, 2011. US residents only.  Official rules are available in PDF format here.

I’d plus up my day by hiring a sitter and going out with my husband. Sitters are so expensive that we rarely get one.

Laura • December 19, 2011 at 9:40 am

There is part of me that thinks I should use this on something practical but that just sounds boring, so I would do something fun. My husband and I have two boys (7 and 4) who are DYING to go to Disney World. So, I would plus up not only my day but the day of my family by using some of that money towards tickets to Disney World. We wouldn’t tell our kids where we were going but let them find out when we drive under that Disney World arch. The memories alone would be worth the price.

Kimberly • December 19, 2011 at 9:49 am

I would buy Christmas presents for my family as well :).

Sharilyn • December 19, 2011 at 9:56 am

I would “plus up” my day spending the $100 card on myself. It is the theme this Christmas. Buy one gift for you, one for me, one for you, one for me and so on……Still, there is that Amazon wish list that I haven’t punched the button on yet.

Nancy • December 19, 2011 at 9:58 am

I’d plus up my day by spending $100 gift card on something I wouldn’t usually buy for myself. Something like an e-reader . . a nook or kindle.

(:-) I’ve already bought both of your books, otherwise I’d buy those first!

Lindsay @ The Reluctant Runner • December 19, 2011 at 10:11 am

I would plus up my day by going out to a nice dinner with my husband. He just recently started working after two months of unemployment, so money has been really tight and we’ve done hardly anything fun. I night out would plus up both of our days!

Lesley • December 19, 2011 at 10:14 am

I would plus up by getting a new heart rate monitor strap. My watch is useless without it :)

Debbi • December 19, 2011 at 10:15 am

Since it would be “found money” I think I’d give it to my sister. She’s having a rough time thanks to cuts in government programs in Ohio and $100 would be life-changing for her. Seriously.

Also I know exactly what you mean about Christmas barfing at Michael’s. Except here Christmas vomits all over my mother-in-law’s parlor every year. She’s WAY over the top when it comes to decorating!

Kristen D. • December 19, 2011 at 10:26 am

I am trying to get into physician assistant school and have a very important interview for that in February. I would definitely “plus up” my day by putting that $100 toward a new suit for the big day!

Denise • December 19, 2011 at 10:30 am

If I had it in time, I’d use the gift card to buy more presents for my husband. I ran out of money and didn’t get him nearly what I wanted to!

Naomi • December 19, 2011 at 10:48 am

My friend’s husband lost his job, which means there are few to no presents for the kids– or themselves — this year. If I had a $100 gift card, I’d use it to plus up their Christmas, probably by putting it in an unsigned Christmas card and leaving it in their mailbox.

Laura • December 19, 2011 at 10:51 am

I’d plus up my day by using the gift card to buy some new sneakers!

Elaine • December 19, 2011 at 11:21 am

I’d “plus up my day” by putting towards a trip to visit a good friend who recently moved to Texas. Yay!

Emily • December 19, 2011 at 11:36 am

I’d plus up my day by buying new pots and pans for my mom for Christmas. Last time I was at her house, I noticed that she’s still using the pans she got as a wedding gift– and she’s been married 42 years!!

colleenzo • December 19, 2011 at 11:59 am

I’d plus up my day by buying more supplies for my bathroom remodel. Such an exciting life I lead.

Kathy • December 19, 2011 at 12:00 pm

I would “plus up my day” by buying a Kindle Fire or a Nook….or maybe an Ipad??

Elizabethe • December 19, 2011 at 12:10 pm

Fiber and $100? Awesome giveaway, dude. I would plus up my day by buying myself some very badly needed new silverware.

Monica • December 19, 2011 at 12:17 pm

I’d ‘plus up my day’ by finishing up buying a few weights to add to my home gym.

Deb • December 19, 2011 at 12:26 pm

Hi Jen,
I’d give it to Caroline, a friend whose husband was just diagnosed with cancer and who could really use the money.

And I might buy some Fiber Plus cereal or bars to try. I trust you!

Kinsey • December 19, 2011 at 1:01 pm

I would plus up a bunch of days by spending the money on a pass for classes at the yoga studio by my office!

Dup • December 19, 2011 at 1:03 pm

I would plus up my day by buying one of those $79 Kindles I saw advertised. Then maybe use the other $20 or so to buy books for it?!

Kathy • December 19, 2011 at 1:04 pm

I would use the card to thank some of those who have helped me through an incredibly tough year. I agree the Chocolate Almond bars are very good.

Andrea • December 19, 2011 at 1:14 pm

I would plus up my day by putting the $100 toward a great dinner on my upcoming trip!

Amy • December 19, 2011 at 1:18 pm

I’d “plus up” by stocking up on all my favorite things from Trader Joe’s, ALL AT ONCE instead of just a few each week! Such luxury.

Erin • December 19, 2011 at 1:50 pm

The caramel coconut fudge bars taste sorta like samoas/caramel delite girl scout cookies. So good. I would plus up my day by putting it towards student loan interest. So responsible am I!

Kelly • December 19, 2011 at 1:53 pm

I’d plus up my day by paying down some bills. Never underestimate how much stress that can relieve :)

Amy • December 19, 2011 at 2:04 pm

I would plus up my day by buying more long underwear. I moved from Virginia to Utah earlier this year, and I’ve been pretty chilly as of late.

Ashley H. • December 19, 2011 at 2:11 pm

I would get a massage.

Lisa D. • December 19, 2011 at 2:29 pm

I would “Plus Up” my life by spending the $100 on something that I’ve always wanted to try but thought was too pricey. I tend not to try new things because I’m afraid to spend money on something only to find out it didn’t work or I didn’t like it. I’d love to try teeth whitening strips, or order something I’ve never tried at a restaurant, or heck maybe even Spanx! (those might come in handy after the restaurant!!)

Tracie Trump • December 19, 2011 at 2:33 pm

I would plus up my day by taking DH on special day outing, for me the best way to plus up my day is the joy of giving others special times together.

Jessie C. • December 19, 2011 at 3:04 pm

I’d plus my day by getting a new coat.

Emily • December 19, 2011 at 3:11 pm

IF I won, I’d plus up the day after my Disney half marathon with a MASSAGE! Now, really can you plus up your day any better?! I think not!

Cynthia • December 19, 2011 at 3:50 pm

I think I’d plus up my day with a day trip and a nice dinner for hubby and me! We might have to wait for better weather though. But we always get a kick out of a cruise through BestBuy to see the latest tech gadgets and a nice dinner out of town.

Shannon • December 19, 2011 at 4:08 pm

New sneakers for the New Year’s resolution would plus my year!

Alexis • December 19, 2011 at 4:25 pm

meredith • December 19, 2011 at 4:50 pm

Karen • December 19, 2011 at 4:56 pm

I would plus up my day with a mani/pedi for me and my girlfriend. It’s been a stressful holiday season and we could use a little pampering.

Astrid • December 19, 2011 at 5:07 pm

I’d use it to buy the ingredients to make a really nice dinner for my boyfriend. Someone’s got to teach him donuts are not dinner.

Lauren • December 19, 2011 at 5:12 pm

I would love to plus up my day by buying the fixins for a really nice dinner and cooking it for my husband and I. With the holidays and all the concomitant commitments, we’ve been eating a LOT of party food, fast food, and crap. Real, good, food sounds SO awesome right now!

SG • December 19, 2011 at 5:32 pm

I would take my husband of 39 years to dinner and a movie :)

Jennifer • December 19, 2011 at 8:53 pm

I’d plus up my day by buying a Christmas present for my husband. This year, we decided to replace our front door instead of exchanging gifts, which is so not exciting. It would be nice to get him something a little frivolous as well (and maybe a little something for me, too!)

Amy G • December 19, 2011 at 8:56 pm

I would use the gift card to purchase a new fitness game for my WI. I’m thinking the Zumba, always wanted to try it.

Donna • December 19, 2011 at 9:06 pm

If I won the gift card I would spend it at the grocery store on canned goods for our local food pantry. They are always looking for canned goods for people less fortunate.

Katrina • December 19, 2011 at 9:22 pm

I would buy my husband a Christmas gift since he won’t be getting anything this year.

Maureen (suburban prep) • December 19, 2011 at 9:32 pm

I would go out with my husband on a day he has off of work and we would go to the city and walk around playing tourist in our hometown.

Kim • December 19, 2011 at 9:53 pm

Shay • December 20, 2011 at 12:41 am

i would plus up MY day….capital letters there! MY days have been stolen, set aside, and put on the back burner too long. MY day NEEDS a plus up. So I’d use the $100 to plus up 10 months of days by getting a membership to the local gym…and when you can make your plus-ing turn exponential well, then- lets get going!

Shannon • December 20, 2011 at 1:08 pm

In an effort to keep my furry roommates off my countertops, I would plus up my day by buying my 3 kitty cats one of those big expensive kitty towers from Petsmart that I’ve been eyeing up. $100 for carpet covered wood, ehh..kinda pricey for me right before Christmas, and that whole “I can totally build one of these myself” was a fail of epic proportions. Lola Hooker Kitty, Old Man Gangril, and Sabastard would love you for ever. My husband would too because he flips whenever he catches one of the cats on a counter!

PoppyK • December 20, 2011 at 1:12 pm

I do believe I’d plus up my day by getting a decadent massage and leaving the masseuse a nice tip – because that’s good karma all around.

anna pry • December 20, 2011 at 7:25 pm

Steelers6 • December 20, 2011 at 9:37 pm

I was just considering buying those bars today!

My Dad just went gluten free; not easy at first at all. But it seems like more things available to choose from these days. And I suspect it will get easier as ppl find where to buy what, and what tastes good.

So many ways that gc could plus up my day! I might use some of it for gifts as you did. We have birthdays coming up in January. Thanks Jennette.
