I was sorting through my old data CDs looking for something else entirely when I found this funny cat video I made way before funny cat videos were popular. I was a true visionary! I created the film for a digital video class I took in college, back when I weighed almost 400 pounds, which is obvious in the video. It’s called “Cat Scratch Fever” and it’s all about what I imagined Officer Krupke would do when I was away. Enjoy!

On my third day in San Francisco I rolled out of bed a little before 11am. (See previous night‘s drunken photo pic for explanation as why.) This is particularly sad because my body was on Eastern Time, meaning it was 2pm my time. I drank a lot of water before going to bed, so thankfully my headache was no worse than usual. I had intended to meet some friends for dim sum downtown at 11am, but that obviously wasn’t going to happen, so I still haven’t had dim sum in San Francisco. I guess that’s a reason to come back some day.
Instead, I headed to The Crepe House (for crepes of all things) with a friend. I think we got there before noon, so hopefully it was still considered brunch. I feel better about having Nutella crepes for brunch than for lunch because the latter mealtime makes me feel like I should be eating something without whipped cream instead.

Disneyland for cats would be a box factory.
In positive news, it’s been 97 days since Java Bean broke a glass! Yay, Java Bean! Those Glassbreakers Anonymous meetings must be working. I, however, have broken, um, two glasses in that time period. Bad, Jennette! Bad, bad, bad! I shattered each one while washing them in the sink. In both bouts of Plate vs. Glass the plate has been the winner. Good thing I’ve got a ton of Bad, Bath, and Beyond coupons for 20% off.
Lest I show favoritism, Office Krupke has killed six crickets this month. Six! Predators make the best pets.

I was hoping I’d never have to make this widget, but if you look at the right sidebar of my blog you can see how many days it has been since Java Bean broke a glass. (Note: You may need to refresh your browser to load the new stylesheet.) I’d thought about making this counter before, but I’d hoped Java Bean’s glass breaking days were over. Alas, I was wrong. Oh, so wrong.
We can train our pets, but our pets train us too. For instance, the sounds of mewing and pawing at the door at 6:00am have trained me to stumble to the kitchen, pour some cat food and then crawl back into bed. When a cat starts cuddling me excessively or pawing at my face outside of feeding time, I know he wants to play. And Java Bean has trained me to never, ever leave a glass on a table unattended unless I want to be sweeping sharp fragments off the floor and/or discovering a shard with my bare feet months later.
